Andrew Jackson

He is the 7th president of the United States of America. Born on March 15, 1767, and became the US President in 1829. His term lasted to 1837 and he died in June 8, 1845.

Some of the highlights in his biography that contributed to history was becoming a military governor of Florida in 1821, becoming commander of the American forces at the Battle of New Orleans in 1815 (this became the eponym of the era of Jacksonian democracy), became a polarizing figure who dominated American politics in the 1820s and 1830s, became a charming and powerful leader for the masses and shaped the modern Democratic Party.

Distinguished for his toughness, he was nicknamed "Old Hickory." Jackson, also, was the first President primarily associated with the frontier (borderland) as he based his career in Tennessee. His popularity paved the way for many monuments and cities named after him: Jacksonville, Florida, Jackson, Louisiana, Jackson, Michigan, Jackson, Mississippi, Jackson County, Mississippi, Jackson, Missouri, Jackson County, Oregon, Jacksonville, North Carolina, Jackson, Tennessee, Jackson County, Florida, Jackson Parish, Louisiana, Jackson County, Missouri and Jackson County, Ohio.

His Vice President from 1829 to 1832 was John C. Calhoun, and it's funny to note that he did not have any Vice President from 1832-1833. Martin Van Buren became his next Vice President in 1833 to 1837, who later succeeded him.
